California Roadsters
members . . . Dr. Mark Van Buskirk, Don Prieto, Bernie Couch and Mark Morton participated in the Pasadena Reliability Run. Originated in 1947, this
run is a remake of the original and actually had five of the
original participating cars and two of the original drivers.

Roadster
Roundup . . .
Chuck Small, the event chairman for the 2005
Roadster Roundup hosted by the LA
Roadsters said there were a lot of excuses for not
attending this year’s event with only 84 entrants. President
Jerry and Judy Kugel brought ten members of the California
Roadsters to the 40th RR in SLO who didn’t
need an excuse to cruise back to the Central Coast.

Monterey
Historic Automobile Races . . .
California
Roadster members invade hallow ground, when Dr. Mark Van
Buskirk got a coveted invitation to race in this year’s
Monterey Historics. His
little ’32 channeled Ford (Khougaz) roadster rubbed elbows
(tires) with some of the sports greatest vintage road
(1947-55) racing cars ever built.

SLO
2005 . . . We don’t know if he was serious, but Sherm said this may
have been the last year for the SLO Roadster Run. If
this is true, the 32nd run (show) would be the end
of an era and the demise of one of the most popular roadster
shows. Ever since
the formation of the California
Roadsters we have faithfully been heading north in mid-May
for a long weekend . . . click

The very first internet organized drag race
ever!
I often ponder the fact that I have been involved in the
sport of drag racing for longer than I care to
admit...some fifty years now. It really is a simple form
of organized motor racing that appeals to a relatively
small percentage of the population even though a larger
number inadvertently participate in an unorganized . . . click

Well, it's been confirmed again this year at the 2005 Grand
National Roadster Show (GNRS), that the California
Roadsters aren't show boaters. We
were invited to participate again this year with a club
roadster display, and our five entries all picked up class
winner trophies. Don Prieto suggested a black roadster display
in keeping with the Hollywood . . . click

California
Roadsters lost Past President Bud Boyle, one of our original
members, on
January 8, 2005. Bud had a large collection of vintage Fords, which he kept in two
buildings in La Habra, that he affectionately called Bud’s
Garage. Bud was a kind & generous man, always willing to host
meetings at his garage,
and share the newest car in his collection. He will be greatly
missed. click
