The 2007 GNRS will
feature the 75th anniversary of the 1932 (Deuce) Ford.
A committee was empowered to pick the most historically
significant Deuces that will be displayed in the show.
Our club has the honor of having four of our members picked
to display five roadsters, including Ken Gross' '32
Black Traditional Flatmotor Hiboy Roadster; Jerry Kugel's
'32 Black Restro-Rod Fendered Roadster/IFS & IRS and
former his '32 Bonneville Roadster; Frank Curries' No. 258
'32 Red Shotgun Hiboy Roadster with a 204 MPH SCTA timing
tag from Bonneville and Dr. Mark Van Buskirk's recently
restored historic '32 Khougaz Lowboy Roadster.
In
conclusion, the judges got the choice for AMBR
right this year by bestowing the award to the Chip
Foose designed '36 Ford Roadster, that also won the
Ridler Award at last year's Detroit Autorama.
This roadster is truly a work of art, with a cost to build
exceeding $1.0 million. Hey, when you lay out that kind of
bread you better pick up a few trophies.
Don Prieto
displayed the Top Banana Flatty Drag
Roadster in a building devoted to race cars. He recently
sold this car to Dr. Mark Van Buskirk, also a club member,
to devote time and money to recreating his Hemi power
slingshot dragster campaigned in the 1960's.
