The
joint weekend cruise hosted by the California
Roadsters for our friends from the Bay
Area Roadsters was a huge success, with a bonding of
like minded roadster guys and gals.
The Peachtree
Inn in San Luis Obispo
was the perfect setting for us to throw a weekend party,
with the first night being a welcome margarita/pizza party. This
was a great opportunity to talk to some of the guys that we
only had prior nodding acquaintances with before.
Well,
there were no girlie men on our joint assault of the Hunter/Liggett
military base on Saturday morning.
The 150 mile run from San Luis Obispo through the base and then onto Highway 1 saw a lot of twists
and turns and dramatic vistas with sheer dropouts to the
coast below. The
run was capped by a scenic coastal drive back to
Cambria
with an enjoyable lunch at a bluff top restaurant. Max
Jamiesson did a great job putting this run together and both
clubs appreciate his efforts.
After
a leisurely run back to the hotel, it was time for some tire
kicking and telling a few tales.
Saturday night started with a cocktail party on the
deck with more margaritas and then a BBQ dinner provided by
Mo’s, a local favorite in SLO. The evening was concluded by a song fest led by our
own Frank Currie and a few jokes by wife Evelyn and a few
others.
In
conclusion it was another successful SLO run, which is one
of our favorite places to visit.
We owe a debt of gratitude to Jon & Midge for
supplying the party essentials and making sure we enjoy
ourselves. The hospitality of Sandy
and Hitch at the Peachtree
has grown to a tradition over the years, and we'll be back
next year. B.A.R.
liked the place enough to book a block of rooms for next
years SLO Roadster
Show. So I
guess that means Jon will have to break out the ole
margarita machine again next May.
